Pamela Smith, Professor of History at Columbia University viendra présenter son livre : Ways of Making and Knowing: The Material Culture of Empirical Knowledge (Amy Meyers et Harold Cook (dir), Bard Graduate Center, NY, 2014)

« Ways of Making and Knowing represents an interesting experiment in creating an interdisciplinary conversation about the material construction of knowledge. It critiques the division between « making » and « knowing » to explore how making things is not simply a precondition to knowledge but a kind of knowledge which raises questions about distinctions between practical and theoretical knowledge ».

Pamela Smith est l’auteur de The Body of the Artisan. Art and Experience in the Scientific Revolution (University Chicago Press, 2004) et le co-éditeur (avec Paula Findlen) de Merchants and Marvels: Commerce, Science, and Art in Early Modern Europe (Routledge, 2001)
